After reading this, I bought and read Falling Into You. Although it wasn’t a bad read, I couldn’t help feeling it would have benefited from a good editor. Sex scenes that go on for 20 pages (or felt as if they did) for one thing. Also, if you are best friends with someone from the day you were both born and your families are friends and neighbours, it’s inconceivable that you would have only met his brother twice … even if he did leave home when you were 11.
Thank you for reading. As an editor, I oftentimes think books I read for pleasure could benefit from additional editing. A curse of the profession, I guess. If I enjoy the book–which I did in this case–I have to set that aside, take what the writer is saying at face value, and run with it.
