So I’ve been obsessed with reading books from the male POV lately, especially books written by women. There is a certain understanding of the opposite sex’s mental state that’s required when writing a realistic male character. Many times I have read books where I could tell clearly a woman is writing a man and it pulls me from a book fast. The male protagonist is either too feminine or overly masculine. There is no clear divide between the female and male characters in these books, so today’s recommend is an older article that I think still rings true today. It’s by Kaye Dacus, Making POV Work For you: The Male POV. She gives some very good points and comparisons between writing male and female characters. Check it out and let us know what you think!
